Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - Yes, it is here again starting Wednesday July 9th. The festival will be highlighted by 2 plays, Richard III and A Midsummer Nights Dream. This is one of the premier summer events in Lake Tahoe and is not to be missed. Call 800-74-SHOWS or visit http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com/tickets for tickets.

Paddleboarding is a sport that seems to be sweeping the nation and Lake Tahoe has not been left out. There are two SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) races on Tahoe this summer ( The Jam to the Dam takes place this weekend) and you will see these boards for rent at marina's and kayak shops around the lake. So, give one a try if you have the chance. You can rent from Tahoe Paddle and Oar in Kings Beach starting at $15 per hour.

Happy Fourth!

FIREWORKS Celebrations are abound this weekend and here are a few places to celebrate our Independence by watching fireworks displays.

July 3rd - Squaw Valley - Laser light show, live music, and activities all day at Whole Lotta Squaw
July 3rd - Kings Beach - The fireworks will start right off the beach 15 minutes after dusk.
July 4th - Tahoe City - Fireworks Display off of Commons Beach in Tahoe City. Show Start at approximately 9PM
July 4th - Truckee - Fireworks at West End Beach on Donner Lake (tickets must be purchased in advance for access to West End Beach)

EVENTS Free outdoor concerts are open to the public every Sunday at Commons Beach in Tahoe City. This weeks featured artist is the Kenny Neal band. Concerts run from 4-7pm.

Also at Commons Beach are free movie night on Wednesdays. This weeks movie is The Golden Compass, starting at dusk.

RAFTING The Truckee River is open for business. The water is flowing and last weekend the rafting companies opened for the season. Visit the Truckee River Raft Company or Truckee River Rafting websites for more information, directions, and of course discount coupons!!

If you are looking for more adventure, raft the lower Truckee River. Starting just east of Truckee the river runs about 7 miles towards Reno where you will experience everything from class 2 to 3+ rapids. This is just a short trip from Tonopalo that will provide loads of fun. Contact Tributary Whitewater Tours for more info.

4Th OF JULY FYI......With the 4th falling on a Friday this year I would expect that the area will be as busy as ever, so I would recommend that you avoid driving over the weekend....especially to Tahoe City! The traffic in TC is notoriously bad on Summer afternoons and I would expect that this weekend the problem will be even more magnified.

So, book the Formula for a couple hours, rent Bentley's jetskis, or just hang at the pool and beach. If you can, wait until Monday to schedule your big Tahoe excursions. Have a great week and Happy 4th of July!!

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE There are great opportunities right now and the property is getting very busy. If you have friends or family that are interested please contact me ASAP. Now is the time to make an offer! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares or call me directly.

Smoke on the Water

We should be very thankful that it is just smoke and not fire, but it is unpleasant nonetheless. With fires raging all over California Lake Tahoe has been covered in a thick haze for the better part of a week now. Physical outdoor activity is being discouraged, but hopefully by the weekend favorable weather conditions will relieve us of at least some of the smoke.
EVENTS Visit Tahoe City on Sunday evening for the free Concerts at Commons Beach. Running every Sunday through the summer these free concerts run from 4pm-7pm on Sunday evenings. This week features Aphrodesia. This should be a great event for the whole family.

Head back to Tahoe City Monday night for the Lakeside Summer Movie Series also at Commons Beach. This week's featured movie is August Rush (PG 133mins.) starting at dusk on July 2nd.

DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT Northstar is now hosting Moody's Mondays throughout the summer. This is a seasonal summer event that is not to be missed. Excellent live jazz and a casual atmosphere pair nicely with chef Estee's amazing culinary creations. For a great night out put this event on your calendar. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling 530-587-8688.

FIREWORKS Remember there are fireworks in Kings Beach on Thursday night the 3rd of July. I know 4th of July falls on an odd day for Tonopalo owners, but whether you are here the week before or the week after you will still be able to enjoy Independence Day fireworks at Lake Tahoe.

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #8 is still a great opportunity listed at $325,000. Do you know anyone interested in homes at Tonopalo? Now is the time to make an offer! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares or call me directly.

"School's out for summer...." I hope that is true for most of the kids out there now because it is a great time to be up here!!

EVENTS I mentioned it last week, but I am going to write about it again because it is such a fun event. The Tour De Nez will be in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee this weekend with events in Thursday in Truckee and on Thursday Friday and Saturday at Northstar. I know I wrote about this before, but it is a really fun event for the cycling enthusiast, casual rider, and even non rider. Pick up a local paper for a schedule of events or visit http://www.tourdenez.com/.

The Village at Squaw will also be hosting a fine arts festival this weekend (open from 10-5 both Saturday and Sunday). The cable car opens for the summer this weekend as well if that is any more incentive to head out to the valley.

The Rodeo is in town!! Well, in Reno at least. If you want to really experience a night right out of the old west head down to Reno one night during your stay to experience the rodeo. This is really a fun time filled with great spectator events, rides, and of course plenty of BBQ and cotton candy.

Billed as the "Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West", the Rodeo runs every night in Reno from June 19th - June 28th. Visit their website for more information and event times http://www.renorodeo.com/.

JET SKIING Bentley and his brother Ronnie are renting jet skis to Tonopalo owners and guests for their second summer now and with great rates the jet skis are getting booked fast. So act now if you are interested in reserving some time on these fun toys. Call the Tonopalo front desk for more information. I know you have the number, but here it is again just in case 530-546-6500.

HIKING At this point in the summer the snow is receding rapidly and the trails are in most cases totally clear and accessible. So take advantage...I would almost recommend looking for the snow. Not only will run off keep the dust down, but it just fun to be standing in the snow on an 80 degree day looking down at people playing golf and boating.

My recommendation would be to visit Barker Pass off of highway 89. Going up this road will give you some elevation gain and you can drive directly to the Pacific Crest Trail. This website gives good directions hiking north to Twin Peaks on the PCT or this site gives directions south to Richardson Lake. For a more moderate hike try the hike to Ellis Peak for great views!! Have fun and take plenty of water.

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #8 is still a great opportunity listed at $325,000. Do you know anyone interested in homes at Tonopalo? Now is the time to make an offer! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares or call me directly.

Summertime!

Summer At Tonopalo!!!

With temperatures expected to be in the 80's this weekend Summer at Lake Tahoe should be in full swing! So I am going to start of with the obvious choice for entertainment, Boating!

BOATING Kayaking, Sailing, Jet Skiing, or a ride on the Tonopalo Formula, take your pick. This weekend should be a prime boating weekend. Warm temperature and small breezes will make for great lake time, whether you are enjoying any of the above activities.

Reserve a jet ski now from Thomas Brothers Moto Sports, just call the Tonopalo front desk for more information and rates. Or, book the Tonopalo Formula for a lake tour or just some time on the water.

The staff is in the process of putting sailboats together this week as well, so if the afternoon breeze picks up take a sail.

The Lake was pretty calm Friday morning, a great time for a paddle.....

EVENTS This week North Lake Tahoe and Truckee are hosting the Tour De Nez! The Tour De Nez is a great biking event that can be enjoyed by all, whether you are a biking enthusiast or not. I have never stepped on a road bike in my life, but over the past couple years I have truly loved watching the Truckee criterium (the criterium is about a one mile loop around downtown Truckee that is raced for 60 minutes and at the last lap the bell is rung and the first person across the line wins. It is a great spectator event). It really gives you an appreciation for the sport and it is exciting to watch!! The Schedule of events is on the website.

NEWS Sadly, a bear was put down on the west shore this week. A resident had been leaving their dog tied up outside and the young cub decided to come enjoy the dogs food and also befriend the dog as a playmate. Unfortunately the bear became accustomed to eating the food and visiting the house daily. The residents enjoyed the show and one day came to close and the bear swiped at her leg. After alerting the authorities they had no choice but to kill the bear (there is a clear policy that any bears that are aggressive with humans must be put down).

This is a very sad story which could have all been avoided for the bear if these residents had any bear sense. Please remember to keep your distance from these animals and never ever feed the bears. It is for your safety and also theirs!

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #8 is now priced at $325,000. Do you know anyone interested in homes at Tonopalo? Now is the time to make an offer! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares.

Come up and Play

It looks like another beautiful weekend is in store for us up here at the lake. Sunny skies and slightly cooler temperatures will make it a great weekend to play outside in the sierras. The hiking, biking and of course boating are all phenomenal right now.

EVENTS San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome will be at Squaw Valley this Friday sharing his views on risk taking in politics with the Squaw Valley Institute. The program will take place at the PlumpJack Conference Center in Squaw Valley starting at 7:00PM. Tickets available online at http://www.squawvalleyinstitute.org/ up to 24 hours before event or at door if space allows. Donation to Squaw Valley Institute requested: $10.00. Children and students with ID are FREE.
North Tahoe Cleanup Day takes place this Saturday the 7th with registration taking place in Tahoe Vista and Kings Beach at 9:00AM. Those interested in cleaning up Kings Beach can register in the conservancy lot next to Enviro Rents at the corner of Hwy 28 and Coon Street; registration for Tahoe Vista and Carnelian Bay is at the Tahoe Vista Rec Area. Maps will be on hand at registration tables to designate clean up areas. All clean up volunteers and participants will receive a blue recycle bag, gloves, Sunflower seeds and a 2008 Clean Up Day T-shirt.
There is also a special BBQ after clean up featuring food from Blue Onion Cafe and Catering, live music compliments of Fearless Chicken and raffle prizes for all volunteers. The BBQ will be at North Tahoe Beach across the street from Safeway in Tahoe Vista.

This is a great community event and if you have other plans take to the spirit of the day by picking up a few pieces of trash, whether off the beach in front of Tonopalo or wherever you end up this Saturday!

BOATING It is finally starting to warm up, but the lake is still quiet so get out there and enjoy it! Call the front desk to book the Tonopalo Formula or some Jetskis if you really want to get adventurous.

KAYAKING With clear skies and calm weather expected why not get out on the lake for a paddle? Grab a kayak on the Tonopalo beach and explore the nearby shoreline in the afternoon or be the early riser and paddle over to Kings Beach for coffee and a breakfast bagel at Java Hut (it is about a 1.5 mile paddle each way).

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #8 is now priced at $325,000. This is a steal for this home! 2300 square feet with 3 bedrooms and a den! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares.

June Already?

Yes, June 1st is this Sunday...it sure doesn't feel like it though. It was cold and wet all week up at the lake, but it is looking like we are working our way towards some better weather.

So, it is still a little quiet up here before summer really starts. There are not a lot of events, but it is a great time to get out and enjoy the peace and quiet on the water or hiking and biking trails.

HIKING The trails are actually in great shape right now due to all the spring moisture we have seen (the wetness keeps the dust down). A nice casual hike that provides some spectacular scenery is in Emerald Bay. You can park at Eagle Falls and hike either down towards Lower Eagle Falls and Emerald Bay or uphill to Upper Eagle Falls and further on if you'd like towards Desolation Wilderness. Either way there are some great views and the water should still be flowing heavily this time of year.

BIKING Northstar at Tahoe is open on weekends for lift serviced riding (not a bad way to do it, especially considering that they have made drastic improvements to their beginner and intermediate riding). Or just run down to Olympic Bike Shop in Tahoe City, rent a bike and ride to River Ranch for lunch. The river is not covered in rafters yet so it is a nice quiet and beautiful ride.

EVENTS The big event of the weekend is the 15th Annual Charity Fishing Derby Sunday June 1st. With prizes including season ski passes and up to $1000 Cash, this event draws a big crowd. The Fishing starts bright and early but stop by for the brunch at Jake's on the Lake from 11 - 1:30...maybe you will catch sight of some of the big fish (the record for largest Mackinaw caught in Lake Tahoe is 36 lb. 6oz.!).

OTHER NEWS I just visited with the sales team at the new Hyatt in Northstar. They are offering a really amazing product there. It is nothing close to Tonopalo of course (there is no lake at Northstar yet) but the building is truly ski-in/ski-out. Anyway, more importantly they are offering free stays in the village at Northstar to prospective buyers who would like to visit the property. Call or e-mail me for more information on this one.

On that note, Timilick Tahoe (a golf course community in Truckee) is offering a $99 Weekend Getaway Package that includes a 3 day/ 2 night stay and a property tour. Again, contact me for more info.

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #8 is now priced at $325,000. This is a steal for this home! 2300 square feet with 3 bedrooms and a den! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares.

Opening Day at the Lake (Memorial Day Weekend)

At least that is what many call memorial day weekend, and it sure seems to hold true with the number of events taking place this weekend.

EVENTS The weekend is chock a block with deck opening parties, park openings, and of course barbeques and music. The west shore association is hosting "Opening Day at the Lake" which includes deck opening parties at Sunnyside, Chamber's Landing, and the Bridgetender, openings and tours of Vikingsholm and the Erhman Mansion, boat shows, and best yet a seaplane splash-in. Last year about 12 seaplanes splashed down on west shore for the day and this year they are expecting up to 24. These planes will be of all types from all eras. The schedule is for a fly in on Monday morning followed by a barbeque and a fly by finale that afternoon. Weather permitting this could be a great sight to see. Here are the photos from last year http://www.mikebrownsplashin.com/menuphotos.htm. This could be a great event to book the Tonopalo Formula for....

Another heralded event this weekend is the Grand Opening of the newly built Tahoe Maritime Museum. Opening day will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30am on Saturday the 24th. There will be tours, refreshments and of course raffle prizes. The prizes include gift certificates from local businesses....AND, everyone who joins the museum on opening day will be entered for the grand prize, a cruise for four aboard the famed Thunderbird yacht combined with a private tour of the Thunderbird Lodge!! This is the best raffle prize I have seen in a long time!

FOOD After a few years hiatus Captain Jon's will be back in business. The location was filled for the past few summers with various seasonal restaurateurs, but this summer will be re-opening as the original Captain Jon's. Right down the street from Tonopalo and with beautiful lake views this could be a welcome addition to the north shore dining scene. They open this weekend, so if you go you'll have to let me know how it is. Reservations can be made by calling 530-546-4819.

BIKING The Northstar mountain bike park returns to operation this weekend with the scheduled opening of the Gondola (2 more lifts to follow when conditions permit). Just like everyone else Northstar has a full weekend of events planned including Giant bike demos on friday.

GOLF All golf courses are open by this weekend! Northstar is offering early season rates through June that include $50 for 18-holes. Call the front desk for tee times.

BOATING Just a reminder that jet skis are available for rent right at Tonopalo through Thomas Brothers Moto Sports (that's Bentley and his brother Ronnie) by calling the front desk or 530-448-1087. And don't forget about the Tonopalo Formula. It is in the water and ready to cruise the lake. Call the front desk for reservations.

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #2 is now priced at $749,000. This is a steal for this home! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares.

Are you on Facebook? Come join the group Tonopalo to view and post pictures, tell everyone about your great stay, and keep up with other owners and staff (past and present). Visit the Tonopalo Facebook Group now.

80 Degrees is the Forecast for Tahoe This Weekend

That right, 80 or hotter even. It's a funny time of year right now....ski resorts closed....it's not quite summer. Some call it the shoulder season, but there is so much to do in Tahoe right now that no one can get bored.

BOATING Well the Tonopalo Formula is in the water and Bentley has his Jetskis available for rent so come up and enjoy this early taste of summer!! Call the Tonopalo front desk now to book some time on the Formula (530-546-6500) or call Thomas Brothers Moto Sports at 530-448-1087 to reserve a jetski for a few hours while you are here. It will be a great weekend to be on the water....get out now before the crowds!

HIKING There is still a ton of snow in the high country but there is already plenty of great hiking access. It is a great time to hike because the trails are not too dusty or crowded and in the right places you can see some beautiful spring runoff. Try the Shirley Canyon hike in Squaw Valley to see the water runoff at it's height. There are actually some big waterfalls right now....I would recommend staying in the right side of the river on your way up the canyon as it is south facing and has less snow. Either way it is a great hike. Feel free to call or e-mail me for other suggestions.

EVENTS So you've been all over the north shore on the Tonopalo kayaks....well, maybe it's time to get a little more adventurous. Explore the east shore of Lake Tahoe at the Community Paddle this Saturday at Sand Harbor. This is a great way to explore and learn more about the east shore of the lake.....one of the best kayaking spots around.

TONOPALO The deep cleans and tile work are completed and the property is looking great! Here are some pictures from this past week. Notice that the beach is back....the tentative estimates are that the lake will come up about another foot before going back down. So, there will be a great beach at Tonopalo all summer.

The buoy field is a little empty, but the kayaks are out and the Formula is summer ready!

TONOPALO REAL ESTATE Home #9 listed at $359,00. Call me about this one. Seller is motivated. This could be a great opportunity for someone you know! Visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for more information on available shares.

Here's to the End of Another Great Ski Season

SKIING Well, after another great ski season Squaw Valley (the last ski resort open in Tahoe) will close this weekend. All good things come to an end right. There are only a few lifts still running, but if you still have the urge to get some turns in you better get out there while you can. All lifts will close at 4PM this Sunday.

GOLF The end of one season means the start of another. That's right, Summer is right around the corner. The buoys are in the water at Tonopalo, the kayaks are on the beach and golf courses are cleared of snow and getting ready to open. In fact Old Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is already open for play daily. Here are the scheduled opening dates for other golf courses in the area: Northstar -May 10th (front nine and driving range only), Old Greenwood - May 16th, Tahoe Donner and Coyote Moon - May 23rd.

MOMS DAY What are you gonna do with mom this weekend? Run down the road to Gar Woods and treat mom to a great mother's day brunch. Or if you want to get a little more adventurous take her to High Camp at Squaw Valley for their Mother's Day brunch. Either way you will get some great food and excellent views.

EVENTS One of the big events this weekend is the Reno River Festival. Head down to Reno to watch pro kayakers compete in various disciplines while enjoying music, food, and beverage on the Truckee River. Remember it is usually about 10-15 degrees warmer in Reno than at the lake so prepare for a little warmer weather. I have never been, but have heard that it is great fun.

REAL ESTATE There are some great deals at Tonopalo right now. If you have any friends or family interested now is a great time to buy!! Home #5 just came on the market at $425,000...this is a 3 bedroom, 3 and a half bath home with great views . Don't let your friends miss this opportunity! Visit www.tonopalosales.com for more information on available shares.

Lastly, are you on Facebook? Come join the group Tonopalo to view and post pictures, tell everyone about your great stay, and keep up with other owners and staff (past and present). Visit the Tonopalo Facebook Group now.

Cinco de Mayo!!

Yes, it's May already, and the traditional Mexican holiday (or maybe not) is this Monday and there are plenty of celebrations scheduled for our area. The Biltmore is hosting one of the larger area celebrations in their parking lot on Sunday the 4th to include food, drink and live music. And as you might guess, just about every Mexican restaurant will be hosting their own parties. A favorite of mine is El Tor Bravo in Truckee which will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo by having their summer deck opening party this Sunday.

For a little more action you can still hit the slopes. Squaw Valley is still in operation and Alpine Meadows will be celebrating it's closing weekend of the 2007/08 season. Alpine will go out with a bang...and bands. There will be live music both Saturday and Sunday on the sundeck and if you want to see some action be there to watch the mad cow downhill on Saturday. This is an all out group race from the top of Alpine to the bottom and with a 2008/09 season pass going to the winner....should be exciting.

OK, so it is May and you've had enough of this skiing stuff. I don't blame you...putting ski boots on right now sounds pretty tough. Well, Brockway Golf course is now open for the summer!! Head on down the street and play 9 for only $35. Or, just stroll down to the beach at Tonopalo and grab a kayak (yes they are on the beach and ready to go) and take a cruise. This is a great time of year to kayak. The temps are warm and there are really no boats out on the lake yet so you get to enjoy calm waters and the real beauty of Lake Tahoe.

You have to love Spring in the Sierras!! You can do it all. Get up here and enjoy it while you can!

In addition to the kayaks the buoy field is back in place and the Tonopalo Formula is scheduled to be in the water on the 15th of this month. Summer here we come!!

Home #2 at Tonopalo, a premier 3 bedroom, 4.5 bath home with a large den.....now listed for $769,000! This is a great opportunity. Tell your friends now! As always, you can visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for current Tonopalo listings and property information.

Plenty to do in the "Slow Season"

Well, as I write this it's cold, snowy, and in feels more like November than April, but that is how it goes in the Sierra. The weather-people are calling for some slight accumulations in the higher elevations today, but we should see some clearing and warmer temps in time for the weekend. I sure hope that is the case!!

Northstar closed last Sunday and they are already gearing up for summer. The driving range is scheduled to open on May 10th with the front nine following closely on May 17th. Also, after a year in hibernation the mountain bike park will re-open this summer!

While Northstar may be a little quiet this weekend Squaw will be a buzz of activity. Squaw will be hosting the 6th Annual North Lake Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival. Activities at the festival include an eco-parade (not sure what that entails but should be fun), fashion show, movies, and live music.

Also at squaw this weekend is the annual Cushing Crossing which is always a great spectator event....don't stand too close though or you might end up wet. Look for the pond crossing off the Bar One sun deck at 2PM.

Can't choose what season to enjoy, Spring or Summer? Try both at Alpine Meadow's annual snow golf tournament this Saturday. Golf the day away around the mountain and finish at the base lodge sundeck for free live music....not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Tahoe.

The Tonopalo staff is continuing with deep cleans and maintenance to have the property in tip top shape and ready for summer. But why wait for summer...grab some Space Available and come enjoy all the great spring events going on up here. Bring some friends and show them what life at Tonopalo is all about!

There are some great opportunities to buy at Tonopalo right now!! If you have any friends or family that have ever considered buying at Tonopalo or have even mentioned how much they enjoy the property now is a great time to buy a share. Shares in Homes 8 and 9 are priced at $359,000 and a share in home #19 just dropped to $670,000!! These are great opportunities. Tell your friends now! As always, you can visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for current Tonopalo listings and property information.

April Showers

Well with sunny skies and plenty of snow you would expect to see full chairlifts, but warm weather means golf clubs, tennis rackets, and boats are getting preferential treatment over the skis and boards. So with uncrowded slopes the resorts are all starting to announce closing days. Winter always seems to go by too fast!

So here are some closing dates to keep in mind (these are all subject to change). Come up and get some turns in while you can!

Squaw Valley - Scheduled Closing May 11th
Alpine Meadows - Scheduled Closing May 4th
Northstar at Tahoe - Scheduled Closing April 27th

Just because the resorts are scheduling closings does not mean that the fun is over! There are some great Spring events throughout the month including free outdoor concerts at both Squaw and Alpine this Saturday afternoon and wine tasting going on at Northstar.

Or if you want to see a little more action and possibly some carnage go to Diamond Peak to watch the annual Dummy Downhill.

Things are slowing down at Tonopalo as well. The staff is using this time to deep clean the homes while also completing repairs around the property. I am sure it will look better that ever as the snow melts and the landscaping blooms again.

There are still some great opportunities to buy at Tonopalo right now!! If you have any friends or family that have ever considered buying at Tonopalo or have even mentioned how much they enjoy the property now is a great time to buy a share. There are some instances where prices have come down to original or near original pricing!! That combined with great interest rates make for great buying opportunities!! Tell your friends now! As always, you can visit http://www.tonopalosales.com/ for current Tonopalo listings and property information.

Is Winter Coming Back to Tahoe?!

Well after a gorgeous weekend last weekend this week looks like it may be taking a turn back towards winter. The weekend forecast is calling for scattered snow showers with the possibility of some real moisture early next week! Take a look at the local forecast on NOAA's website.

Easter week and spring break have come and gone....so now what? Well there are a few great benefit events this weekend including the Billy Dutton Memorial Race, an uphill....yes, uphill.....race from the base of Squaw Valley to High Camp on Sunday and the Disabled Sports USA Benefit Bash at Alpine Meadows on Saturday Night. Learn more about these events and what else is going on at http://www.gotahoenorth.com/

Brad Carter was talking about pulling the kayaks out this week, but it looks like mother nature is going to put a stop to that idea for know. I am sure the warm weather and our true spring is right around the corner so I will keep you posted.

Otherwise, things are getting a little quiet already here. The early coming and going of easter means a lot of time until the next holiday weekend. It is a great time to be up here though....great skiing, no crowds and good deals everywhere. So come up if you can!

On another note, there are some great opportunities to buy at Tonopalo right now. Easter Weekend at Tonopalo

Well, after a snowy and cold weekend last weekend, it looks like we have some real spring conditions to look forward to for this coming weekend. There may be a light storm moving through this week with clearing by Friday and temperatures forecast to be in the upper 50s on Saturday and Sunday. Sounds like a great weekend to be up here.

As I mentioned last week the pool and hot tub at High Camp at Squaw Valley are now open for the spring and we finally might see some hot tubbing appropriate weather for that. Also at Squaw this weekend are the Demo Days. For only $35 you can demo all the gear you want all day long on the slopes at Squaw on both Friday and Saturday. This is a great way to try before you buy, and this is the best time of year to be buying ski gear. New gear prices are greatly reduced and you can buy used demo gear in great shape for even better bargains! Visit http://www.squaw.com/ for more info about the demo days and http://www.tahoedaves.com/ for great deals on used demo gear right now.

Other events this weekend include a free concert on the deck at Alpine Meadows Saturday featuring Sugarshack from 1-3PM, and Easter festivities all weekend at Northstar-at-Tahoe.

Tonopalo will be celebrating Easter with Easter Egg decorating in the clubhouse at Noon on Saturday and the always exciting Easter egg hunt on Sunday at 10am. This is all in addition to the cocktail reception on Saturday evening from 5-7pm.

More Snow at the Lake? 3/12/08

Yes, it looks that way. Another series of storm systems is supposed to move through the area this weekend, although at this point nothing seems to be carrying the power or moisture that we have seen earlier this season. For the weekend forecast visit NOAA.

So what is happening in the snowy weather this weekend? Well, Saturday is the scheduled opening of the pool and spa at high camp. Also, check out Alpine Meadows on Saturday for a free concert on the deck from 1pm-3pm. I think someone told the resorts it was supposed to be Spring. For all the weekend events visit GoTahoeNorth's website.

Don't forget that Monday is St. Patricks Day. I am sure that there will be celebrations all around the lake. Celebrating at The Auld Dubliner in Squaw is my favorite as it is the most authenic Irish bar/restaurant on the North Shore. Other favorites are O.B.s in Truckee or River Ranch at the base of Alpine Meadows.
